Trimac Transportation Elite Team Driver Russell Hardy Advances To Top 3 Finalist In Transition Trucking: Driving For Excellence Award

December 2016

Houston, TX.. From a large pool of entries, Trimac Transportation’s Elite Team Driver Russell Hardy has been chosen as a top three finalist for the Transition Trucking: Driving For Excellence Award, putting him in position to be awarded a fully-loaded T680 as a deserving veteran who entered the trucking industry. The award, created by the U.S Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes Program (HOH), Kenworth, and FASTPORT, is intended to recognize exceptional drivers who have transitioned from military service to professional truck driving.

The top three finalists were announced on August 26th at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Tx. and Trimac Transportation has been quick to praise Hardy for his work ethic and service.

“Trimac Transportation invited Russell Hardy to join the team in July of 2015 as we launched our military program with the company earlier that year. He has progressed into our Elite Team program that has become just like our ‘special forces’ unit,” said Michael Ortiz, Trimac’s regional recruiter. “We understand that Russell Hardy helps build the nation and keeps it going; especially in the tanker industry. [His] initiative, perseverance, and loyal devotions to duty reflect credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest values here with Trimac Transportation.”

Hardy, a 20-year veteran of both the U.S. Navy (four years) and U.S. Army (16 years, retired) says the respect between Trimac and himself is mutual and plans to stay with the carrier for the long-haul. “Fortunately, I feel like I hired on with one of the finest companies a driver could hope to work for in the trucking industry,” Hardy said. “I have no aspirations of changing companies.”

According to Tonja Wilhelms, Trimac’s North American recruiting manager, “Russell’s commitment to the Armed forces has continued in his strong dedication to Trimac after he transitioned to civilian life. We’re very fortunate – and proud—to have him with us.”

Trimac encourages everyone to view Hardy’s video package at the link below and vote to help him win the Kenworth T680. The winner will be announced in December 2016.
