Starship Initiative Launches May 18th
SAN DIEGO, CA… Shell and Air Flow Truck Company have designed and built a hyper fuel-efficient Class 8 Tractor-Trailer called the Starship. The Starship incorporates cutting edge aerodynamics, technologies and the latest in advanced lubricants, including: full synthetic Shell T6 Ultra 5W30 engine oil; Shell Rotella Extended Life Coolant; Full Synthetic Spirex and S5 ADE 75W-80 Differential Oil; GXME 75W=80 Transmission Oil and Spirex S6 GME 40 Wheel Hub Oil. The Starship will also use high purity Shell Rotella Diesel Exhaust Fluid.
The Starship project is powered by a 2017 400 hp Cummins X15 6-cylinder engine. The X15 Cummins features 1850 foot-pounds of torque and has been calibrated with the transmission to run at low speeds and down to 800 RPMs.
The Starship will leave San Diego, California on May 18th. Drivers are invited to see the Starship at scheduled stops at Love’s Travel Stops in Gila Bend, Arizona on May 18th, Comfort, Texas on May 20th; and Biloxi, Mississippi on May 23rd. The Starship will finish its tour in Jacksonville, Florida on May 24th.
