On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Southern Pines Trucking, based out of  Aliquippa, Pennsylvania,  hauled a Super Load, a 150-ton steel cone,  from Columbiana, Ohio to the Edgar Thomson Steel Works plant in Braddock, PA.

And it truly was a Super Load - measuring 136' long and 28' wide!

The load required hours and hours of advance planning.  The trip took several hours with Police and a  truck escort service ahead and behind the truck.  They traversed through Pennsylvania on Interstate 80, passing through Mercer, Venango, Butler, Clarion and Jefferson counties. It then traveled south along routes 36, 436 and 119 into Indiana County before turning west on Route 22 through Westmoreland County. In Allegheny County, the cone traveled south on Route 48 and west on Route 130, then along the Tri-Boro Expressway and Braddock Avenue before reaching its final destination at the  Thomson plant in Braddock.
