By Jessica Kapasky, North American Recruitment and Retention Manager at Skelton is the third generation of her family to work in the transportation industry.  Jessica remembers when she was a little girl, riding in the family car past the Skelton complex and being impressed by the shiny orange trucks.  In fact, Jessica recalls being impressed by Skelton for many years, so when she had the opportunity to go to work for them, she couldn’t wait to get started. 

Jessica has been at Skelton for 3 years and is excited to tell drivers about the opportunities that are currently available, such as the $2100 per week guaranteed minimum per company driver running teams.  Most company driver teams make over 100K per year (each person).  Owner-operator teams average 350K to 400K per truck annually.  Skelton pays $5,500 per team for orientation.  Each driver is given $250 on the first day for food and expenses and when orientation is completed, Skelton puts $2500 in their paycheck.

Skelton hauls high value pharmaceuticals, and the entire fleet is temperature controlled using dual reefers.  The company is still operated by the 2nd generation of the Skelton family but was purchased by the Andlaure Health Group that also owns Boyle.

Skelton’s corporate office is in Sharon, Ontario Canada, however they have been operating in the USA for the past 7 years.  The company opened a terminal in Canal Winchester, Ohio, just south of Columbus 2 years ago and is breaking ground for another terminal just south of Memphis, Tennessee. 

Skelton has grown substantially in the USA in the past couple of years.  With steady freight volumes, the company would like to grow by one to two trucks per month.  The freight is over-the-road for dedicated customers and Skelton is seeking company driver teams and owner-operator teams in most states.  Company drivers can take the truck home and Skelton helps owner-operators with the cost of secure parking.
