Ron Round Named ATA National Battle of the States Bendix Grand Champion - Two-Time Maine State Truck Driving Champion Wins First National Virtual Trucking Title
Arlington, VA… Ron Round, a professional driver with Pottle’s Transportation, was named Bendix Grand Champion at the 2021 American Trucking Associations National Battle of the States: Virtual Truck Driving Championships.
“Our industry is full of champions, as we saw with the tremendous participation in this year’s virtual truck driving championships, and it is a privilege to recognize Ron as this year’s Grand Champion,” said ATA President and CEO Chris Spear. “I want to thank Ron, and all the drivers who participated in this year’s National Battle of the States: Virtual Truck Driving Championships. We look forward to seeing these drivers resume competition next year in Indianapolis at the 2022 National Truck Driving Championships.”
Round, a 33-year veteran of the industry with more than 2.7 million accident free miles, bested 165 other competitors to claim the title of Bendix Grand Champion, sponsored by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems. He is a seven-time division champion at the Maine Truck Driving Championships and a two-time grand champion at the MTDC.
Todd Flippin, a FedEx Freight driver from Colorado, finished second, and Jim Kohr, a New York-based driver with FedEx Express, claimed third place at this year’s virtual event. which began on July 31 with state-level trivia contests based on Facts for Drivers, federal and state laws, state trucking history and culture, before the national competition on August 14.
