With 360 units, Reliable Carriers is the nation’s largest enclosed auto transporter. While Enclosed Auto Transport is the primary business at Reliable Carriers, the company has 40 units dedicated to Open Car Carrier Transport, which serves just about every car manufacturer on the planet. Additionally, Reliable Carriers offers Fifth Wheel Transport (single car enclosed), Custom Roll Back Transport and Lowboy Heavy Equipment Transport for oversize vehicles. Reliable Carriers was founded over 60 years ago with a single tractor trailer and began as a moving and storage company and is still owned and operated by the Abram family with Tom Abrams (the third generation) as President and CEO. In 1986, Reliable Carriers converted to 100% auto transport. The company has doubled in size in just the past 5 years and has plenty of business creating the need to hire/lease additional drivers, as well as some teams. The Reliable Carriers fleet is made up of about 60% independent contractors and 40% company drivers. Contractors are paid on percentage while company drivers are paid by the mile or hourly, dependent on which fleet they operate in. Line Haul OTR drivers are out 3-4 weeks with a week at home. Regional Hauls are home ever 2-3 nights and Local Hauls are home every night. Reliable Carriers has 25 trucks dedicated to running the Detroit area daily. There is no forced dispatch for Company Drivers or Owner-Operators. The Company Fleet is comprised of late model Peterbilt and Kenworth tractors, all are big bunks and some even have showers and restrooms. The trucks are loaded with driver amenities, and with their polished aluminum wheels and colorful paint schemes, they are show truck quality. Power units are 4 years or newer, as are the special built trailers that are often worth $250,000 each.
