PI&I Motor Express Saves Fuel With Windmaster

MASURY, OH…. PI&I Motor Express is saving fuel with Load Covering Solutions’ Windmaster series of tarping systems.  The Eastern Ohio based flatbed carrier has been using Windmaster Tarping Systems for 8 years and has 27 units in their fleet.PI&I presently has 3 Windmaster SmartLook aerodynamic “flattop” and 24 Windmaster Slide Kit “roundtop” rolling tarp systems installed on their trailers.

PI&I Director of Maintenance James “JW” Welsh had this to say about Windmaster Tarping Systems, “Not only are the Windmaster Tarping Systems visually attractive, our drivers love them.  They make tarping quick and easy and help reduce injuries due to tarping and falling from the trailer. Typically steel hauling is not conducive to attaining top fuel economy.  By spec’ing our trucks with engines, transmissions and differentials that are matched properly, along with Windmaster aerodynamic tarping systems, our trucks are achieving a 5.5-6 mpg average in the PI&I fleet.  Our drivers request the Windmaster Tarping Systems when they haul a load.”

PI&I Motor Express operates a fleet of 275 trucks, serving the steel and aluminum industries.  Founded in 1951, the company is now operated by the fourth generation of the Kerola Family.  The company hires recent driving school grads, veterans and Professional Truck drivers from all parts of the trucking industries as well as leasing owner-operators.
