​PACCAR Parts Participates in Hiring Our Heroes

PACCAR Parts is a proud participant in Hiring Our Heroes. Through this partnership, PACCAR Parts has hosted multiple transitioning veterans and hired six candidates.

Hiring Our Heroes, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, was launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities.

PACCAR Parts participates as a Corporate Fellowship host employer. The fellowship program organizes cohorts of 15 to 30 active duty service members, including veterans and military spouses where available. Fellowship candidates are carefully matched with participating companies, like PACCAR Parts, based on the specific skills of the candidate and the preferences of both parties.

Candidates then undergo exclusive on-the-job training at their host company, gaining firsthand experience in the private sector.

“PACCAR Parts is my definition of a ‘veteran friendly’ organization,” said Daniel Sotoamaya, a program participant who was recently hired at PACCAR Parts as a customer service supervisor. “They checked everything off my list of expectations of what was important to me in an organization for my post-military career. From the moment I applied, their actions demonstrated that they really wanted me to be part of their team.”

Prior to working at PACCAR Parts, Sotoamaya served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. Once leaving the military, he was involved with military and civilian transition programs and consulted with them during his transition. Sotoamaya was also recently interviewed by Good Morning America and will be featured during a special moment of recognition at the Country Music Awards, hosted on Nov. 14 in Nashville, Tennessee.
