NATSO Education, Programs Help Operators Attract Travel Plaza Talent
ALEXANDRIA, VA… Quality employees are one of the most important assets at a truckstop and travel plaza, but attracting, hiring and retaining talent can be a difficult and time-consuming process. High-turnover foodservice and retail positions are especially challenging and often require a continuous candidate pipeline.
Understanding what today’s job seekers look for in a career and work culture and developing new recruitment and retention strategies is vital to operators’ future success. During The NATSO Show 2017, Jan. 21-24, Maryellen Adams, director of association partnerships with CareerCo, a successful online recruitment leader, will dig into trends and best practices in hiring and retention to help operators uncover smart, innovative ways to engage and recruit the talent they need. During the session, operators will be able to weigh in on what is and is not working for them so all attendees can learn from their real-world experiences.
“The way operators attract, hire and retain employees has changed over the past five years, and the way successful businesses hire will continue to evolve, especially as the next generation of talent enters the workforce,” said Pamela Hayes, vice president of business development for NATSO. “This session is designed to give operators the insight they need to continue attracting quality, service-oriented employees.”
In addition to offering human resources-related content at The NATSO Show, NATSO has created several programs exclusively for NATSO members, including a partnership with CareerCo. Through the program, CareerCo provides NATSO members with a risk-free, performance-based system to recruit and hire for a variety of positions. NATSO members receive a 10 percent discount on all CareerCo services.
NATSO has also entered into partnership with FASTPORT to help NATSO members recruit and hire military veterans and transitioning service members. FASTPORT’s mission is to educate, motivate, hire and inspire veterans and transitioning service members into great careers with great employers within the transportation industry. NATSO members receive a special rate based on the number of locations.
