Monster Truck Action Planned for the Carlisle Truck Nationals/New Twist Added Too - Virginia Giant, Raminator and Toxic in Action for 2016 Plus Freestyle MX Stunt Riders
Carlisle, PA… Every August the Carlisle Truck Nationals wows enthusiasts of all ages; this has been an ongoing thing since the event’s inception in 1991. Now, as truck weekend celebrates its 25th anniversary, the fun continues with the next generation of truck lovers cruising to Carlisle for the three-day show, running this year August 5-7. One of the draws annually, monster trucks! Kids and parents alike have packed the grandstands for years; all to watch big trucks rev their loud engines, fly through the air and crush cars. All of that is back in 2016 and then some with a trio of trucks planned; one for the first time ever.
Since you can’t tell the players without a program, let’s take a look at the participants this year. First; the fans. Truck weekend welcomes nearly 40,000 guests from throughout the mid-Atlantic. Not only do these truck enthusiasts love the monster trucks, but they are drawn to all things truck. From big trucks to little trucks, lowered to lifted, big rigs to the aforementioned monsters, they’re all at Carlisle. There are custom vans too, plus unique displays. Of course nothing “packs ‘em in” better and more frequently than the monster trucks. And that’s what the next three paragraphs are all about. Sit back, relax and enjoy the mayhem!
Raminator: Sponsored by the Ram Truck brand, this truck is officially the "World's Fastest Monster Truck." Built by Hall Brothers Racing, Raminator stands 10 feet tall and weighs in at 10,300 lbs. The truck is based on a 2013 Ram 1500/Ram Heavy Duty and boasts 2,000+ horses under the hood. Valued at over $150,000, this monster rocks eight KS Nitro Gas Shocks and has a 4-Link Suspension. In December of 2014, Raminator broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® record for the fastest speed for a monster truck by clocking a speed of 99.10 miles per hour at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. While the truck won’t be going that fast in August, it will be destroying everything in its path.
Virginia Giant Ride Truck: Why is this one cool? One word; interactive! Guests can climb aboard the iconic Virginia Giant Ride Truck for a heart pounding, car crushing, no holds barred edge of their seat ride. This truck does something that no other will do at Carlisle; it crushes cars while guests ride in the back. The Virginia Giant offers heart pounding thrills and white knuckle car crushing action. Ride, crush, enjoy and repeat!
Toxic: The new kid on the block, Toxic comes to Carlisle for the first time ever this summer. Operated by Gilbert Motorsports from Fairfaix, Virginia, this truck will match up against Raminator for one show Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. It’s mean, it’s green and it’s built to destroy its competition.
Freestyle MX Riders: Joining the trio of trucks will be a group of Freestyle MX riders. These guys will wow the standing room audience with gravity defying tricks as part of each Monster Truck Show. Grab your camera and catch them flying through the air with ease as they go hands free, upside down and more!
A ticket for the Carlisle Truck Nationals is just $12 with kids 12 and under free. All monster truck shows are FREE with an admission to the grounds, though a nominal fee does apply for rides on the Virginia Giant. Seating goes quickly for each show, so guests are encouraged to arrive early, enjoy all that the truck show has to offer and then find a spot.
