Jesus Christ Is The Light Of The World
We have day and night, suffering and comfort, joy and turmoil. These are opposite one from another. Someone has said, “I suffer from pure comfort.”
Necessity is the mother of invention. When something is needed, somebody will bring it up. You cannot have light and enjoy it unless you have first experienced the dark. You cannot enjoy comfort unless you have first suffered. You could not know the difference between the pure and the impure unless you have seen the events and the results of the impure. So, it is with the ways of Christ.
Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He shines into the darkness of humanity. Once He announced, “Men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil.” He did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. He said the people – from the lowest ebbs of sin – would enter the Kingdom of God ahead of those professing righteousness, who have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof.
Yes, opposites often help one another. If there were no sin, we would need no Saviour. If there were no darkness, we would need no light. If there were no suffering, there would be no room for comfort. Jesus Christ is the answer to all the needs of the human family.
