International Tolling Association Elects Mark Compton, CEO, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as IBTTA First Vice-President

WASHINGTON, DC… The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) is pleased to announce that Mark Compton, Chief Executive Officer of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, will serve as the association’s First Vice-President. IBTTA is the worldwide association for the owners and operators of toll facilities and the businesses that serve tolling.

Compton was elected First Vice-President by the membership during IBTTA’s 87th Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Nova Scotia, Canada, this past September. The meeting brought together more than 800 transportation leaders from 23 countries to discuss innovative technologies, policies, funding options and business practices to provide greater mobility for drivers. Compton will serve as First Vice-President of IBTTA in 2020. In 2021, he will serve as President of IBTTA.

Mark’s extensive work in transportation comes at a critical time when communities and nations worldwide are looking at new ways to fund and finance vital transportation infrastructure.”

These interactions help cultivate safety, innovation and customer service on the PA Turnpike system and across our industry.”

Compton, who is from Manheim, Pa., began serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission on Feb. 1, 2013. With nearly two decades of public and private-sector experience in transportation, administration, government affairs and construction, Compton holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University with a major in Government Management and Administration.

He previously served as PennDOT’s deputy secretary of administration, overseeing eight bureaus within the agency. Before joining PennDOT, he was director of government affairs for American Infrastructure, a heavy civil construction company headquartered in Worcester, Pa. Prior to that, he worked in various public and private operations, focusing largely on transportation, construction and economic development.
