Estes Announces Expansion of Truckload and Logistics Capabilities Through Purchase of Eastern Freightways and Carrier Industries
RICHMOND, VA… Estes Express Lines will expand its truckload and logistics capabilities with the purchase of Eastern Freightways and Carrier Industries — two affiliates of New Jersey-based trucking company New England Motor Freight (NEMF).
The
sale, which closed on May 31, is a separate part of NEMF’s liquidation
following their filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February. It
will enable Estes, already America’s largest privately owned freight
transportation carrier, to deliver expanded flatbed and dedicated
transportation capabilities through its Level2 Logistics division.
“We are very excited that Eastern Freightways and Carrier Industries are
joining Estes,” said Estes Corporate Vice President Bobby Speight, who heads
Estes Level2 Logistics. “This acquisition will further solidify our role as the
nation’s total solutions resource for robust transportation and logistics
services.”
