Food:
You want to keep long shelf-life foods stored away that can help sustain energy. A few of the best options would be dried fruit, along with granola bars or beef jerky. Even if you’re only stuck somewhere for a few hours it’s always nice to have a little treat to pass time and avoid crankiness. Once you get back on the road you’ll need 100% focus.
Water:
Always have few bottles of water tucked away, at least a gallon worth. Dehydration can be very dangerous and it’s not something anyone likes to mess around with when surviving winter!
Warm Clothes:
Staying warm is essential during the cold winter months. It’s vital to always have a few extra pairs of socks, knit caps, long sleeve shirts, and boots, along with a few coats you can layer. Remember, it’s always easier to remove clothing than it is to add if you don’t have enough.
Sleeping Bag:
Sleeping bags should become an essential item in your cab for surviving winter; you never know when you might need to pull one out. They’re easily portable and simple when storing away. Flashlight/Batteries/Shovel:

A Windup Radio:
Even though it’s unlikely that you won’t have cell phone reception, it can happen. You may have forgotten about the old-fashioned wind-up radio! This can be an inexpensive item to add to your emergency kit! Having a windup radio will allow to be aware of what the road conditions are like ahead, and how long a storm might last.
Kitty Litter or Salt:
Keep a couple of bags or boxes in the back of your truck. It will help put additional weight on your back tires – which will help you gain traction on the road. In the worst-case scenario of getting stuck, the sand or litter will be helpful provide a solid grip to the road.
Having a plan, along with emergency items could save your life in the future. By continuously expecting the unexpected you’ll be able to stay calm when an emergency situation arises.
