Eaton and Cummins Expand SmartAdvantage Powertrain Portfolio with Higher Torque Option
LAS VEGAS, NV … Power management company Eaton and dependable power provider Cummins Inc. announce the expansion of the SmartAdvantage powertrain portfolio to now include a new transmission model with 1,850 lb.-ft. torque capacity. This new transmission model is offered for linehaul applications in the United States and Canada operating with GCVW ratings of up to 80,000 lbs.
Built on the current Eaton and Cummins platform to maximize efficiency and performance, the SmartAdvantage® powertrain will be offered as a multi-torque model that is compatible with Cummins SmartTorque2 functionality available in ISX15 SA and X15 SA engines rated up to 500 HP and 1550/1850 lb.-ft. of torque. As with all current SmartAdvantage powertrains, this newest addition will not require the use of a transmission cooler.
“The 1,850 lb.-ft. rating has been added to provide customers with improved grade capabilities and acceleration while broadening the downsped SmartAdvantage powertrain offerings,” said Alex Stucky, product strategy manager, Commercial Powertrain, Eaton. “It will provide superior performance on grades and highway on-ramp entrances.”
“This is another example of Eaton and Cummins expertise working together to provide a SmartAdvantage powertrain to meet higher productivity needs but maintaining the class leading balance of performance and fuel economy,” said Michael Taylor, general manager, Global Powertrain, Cummins.
