CVSA Transitions to New Leadership for 2024-2025

Washington, DC…  The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has transitioned to new leadership for 2024-2025. Capt. John Hahn, of Colorado State Patrol, is the new president of the Alliance. Maj. Erick McGuire, with Florida Highway Patrol, is CVSA’s vice president. And Col. Russ Christoferson, with Montana Department of Transportation, has moved into the past president role.

On Sept. 12, at the CVSA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Big Sky, Montana, CVSA Class I Members and Class II Local Members elected Sgt. William “Bill” Alarcon, with New Jersey State Police, to the position of CVSA secretary. Sgt. Alarcon will serve one year as secretary of the Alliance, while concurrently serving as chair of the CVSA Election Committee. Then, he’ll serve one year as vice president of the Alliance and chair of the CVSA Finance Committee. The year after that, he will become CVSA’s president. After one year as president, Sgt. Alarcon will then serve three years as past president – making the entire obligation a six-year commitment.

  In addition to the executive leadership transition, the following region and membership leadership changes were made: 

* F/Sgt. Travis Ingold, from North Carolina State Highway Patrol, is Region II president.

* Tpr. Chase Livingston, from Arizona Department of Public Safety, is Region IV president.

* Ofc. Christopher Vinson, with Midlothian [Texas] Police Department, is the local membership president. 

* Brett Graves, of Maverick Transportation, is president of associate members.

The following committee and program changes were made: 

* Lt. Marcus Studer, from Michigan State Police, is Enforcement and Industry Modernization Committee chair.

* Maj. Jon Smithers, with Indiana State Police, is chair of the Policy and Regulatory Affairs Committee. 

* F/Sgt. Kendell Jackson, with North Carolina State Highway Patrol, is chair of the Size and Weight Committee. 

* Terry Renfrow, with Reliance, is International Roadcheck program chair.

* Tpr. Robert “Lew” Thomas, from Colorado State Patrol, is chair of the Performance-Based Brake Testers (PBBT) Users Program.

* Greg Dvorchak, from Hendrickson International, is chair of the Commercial Vehicle Brake Manufacturers Council. 

CVSA would like to thank the following members of leadership who devoted their time to serving the membership and whose terms expired this year, who retired or who stepped down from their leadership positions: 

* Lt. Ronald Jenkins, from Oklahoma Highway Patrol, was Region II president.

* Cory Ayon, with New Mexico Department of Public Safety, was Region IV president.

* Ofc. Lincoln Sweeney, of Cedar Hill [Texas] Police Department, was local membership president.

* Derek Barrs, from HNTB Corporation, was associate membership president.

* Capt. Bart Teeter, with the Texas Department of Public Safety, served as chair of the Enforcement and Industry Modernization Committee. 

* Brad Marten, with Montana Department of Transportation, served as chair of the Size and Weight Committee. 

* Sgt. Alarcon chaired the Policy and Regulatory Affairs Committee. 

* Maj. Michael Forman, with Mississippi Department of Public Safety, was chair of International Roadcheck.

* Lt. Studer chaired the North American Cargo Securement Harmonization Public Forum.

* Lt. Joe Greene, with Kansas Highway Patrol, was chair of the PBBT Users Program.

* Dave Engelbert, of Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems, served as chair of the Commercial Vehicle Brake Manufacturers Council.
