Bendix Honors 2017 ATA National Truck Driving Championships Grand Champion Award Winner
ELYRIA, OH… Following four days of competition, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC honors the Grand Champion winner of this year’s American Trucking Associations (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC), held Aug. 9-12 in Orlando, Florida. Bendix proudly congratulates Roland Bolduc, an East Longmeadow, Massachusetts-based professional driver for FedEx Express, as the Grand Champion winner of the 2017 ATA NTDC. He also won the Sleeper Berth class title.
Bolduc, who has more than 1.9 million safe driving miles in his career, has worked in the trucking industry for more than 36 years, the last 23 years with FedEx Express. His driving skills and knowledge of safety, equipment, and the industry earned him the top award over more than 420 other drivers.
Bendix sponsored the Bendix National Truck Driving Championships Grand Champion Award, given to the competition’s overall top driver, for the seventh consecutive year.
Each year, the NTDC features professional truck drivers from across the United States, who take part in nine classes of competition at company, state, and regional levels.
“Bendix congratulates Roland Bolduc for earning this year’s Bendix National Truck Driving Championships Grand Champion Award, and commends every driver who competed in the 2017 championships,” said Fred Andersky, Bendix director of government and industry affairs. “We are proud to honor the dedication of these talented professionals, and we know they share our commitment to highway safety. The National Truck Driving Championships shine a deserving light on these great drivers, the families who support them, and the critical role they play in keeping roadways safe for everybody.”
During this year’s competition at the Orlando County Convention Center, drivers demonstrated their extensive knowledge of safety, equipment, and the industry through a written exam, a pre-trip inspection test, and a skills-based driving competition course. Behind the wheel, their abilities to handle a truck, judge distances, and maneuver through tight spaces were put to the test through challenges to drive, reverse, and park their vehicles with precision. Course obstacles included barriers, curves, and scales.
By delivering on vehicle performance, safety and efficiency, and providing unparalleled post-sales support, Bendix aims to help fleets and vehicle operators maintain strong return on investment that contributes to safer roadways for everyone across North America.
